Gwen Stricker to Present at the 2026 Indiana Landmarks Preservation Conference

Nurture is excited to announce that Junior Associate and Preservationist, Gwen Stricker, will present at the 2026 Indiana Landmarks Preservation Conference, taking place September 29th through October 2nd in Franklin, Indiana.

Gwen will join Carolee Kokola, Director of Enterprise Operations at Bubbly Dynamics, LLC, and Martin Minner, Senior Historian at Dimension History, LLC, for the session, "Commemoration and Reinvention: Preservation & Inclusive Storytelling in Post Industrial Communities."

The process of reimagining former industrial sites frequently excludes the stories of how industry workers, surrounding communities, and broader economic dynamics contributed to their significance. This session explores approaches to infuse public history into preservation efforts, developing commemorative landscapes that strive to tell the stories of typically unheard voices, using case studies from Chicago's Packingtown Museum, the Calumet Heritage Area, and the nation's 250th anniversary.

The 2026 conference marks the first time Indiana's annual preservation conference will be held in Franklin. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience a community that reflects the conference's mission through its vibrant historic downtown, thoughtfully adapted buildings, and restored landmarks, including the Garment Factory, Johnson County Museum of History, Artcraft Theatre, and Johnson County Courthouse.
