Nurture is providing the Chicago Housing Authority full architectural design services for five sites in the North Lawndale and Bronzeville communities, as part of the CHA’s Restore Home program, an initiative that aims to renovate and rehabilitate vacant small and medium-sized scattered site buildings across Chicago, to bring more than 175 units back to leasable condition.
Nurture, including our Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) and our expert consultant team, is developing a PHIUS-driven retrofit design approach with technical strategies with airtight, highly-insulated envelopes and all-electric, energy-efficient systems. Our integrative design process utilizes energy modeling and multi-disciplinary decision-making, ensuring material specifications, system selections, and constructability methods align with performance and budgetary goals.
This approach aims to reduce operating costs, increase long-term affordability and property resiliency, decarbonize CHA’s portfolio, and ensure quality homes that unlock the economic power for future Chicago families.
