NEIU Science Building

The Science Building at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) is a cornerstone of academic excellence, serving as a hub for scientific exploration and learning since its construction in 1971. As part of NEIU's commitment to modernizing its facilities and enhancing the student experience, Nurture was engaged as AOR for a transformative project aimed at upgrading the Science Building's infrastructure and accessibility. Nurture's comprehensive scope of work encompasses critical upgrades and innovative additions to the Science Building, leading the coordination of classroom finish modifications to accommodate state-of-the-art HVAC upgrades, ensuring optimal indoor air quality and energy efficiency. This includes meticulous ceiling repairs and, where necessary, replacement to create an environment conducive to learning and research.

The project involves an architectural expansion in the form of two new entrance vestibules at the existing northwest and southeast entries. These vestibules will not only serve as welcoming focal points but will also address practical concerns by improving circulation, accessibility, and weather protection for the building's occupants. Nurture oversaw sidewalk replacement and regarding, enhancing safety, accessibility, and aesthetics. We conducted several site visits to gather essential data on existing conditions, ensuring our design and implementation align with the structure and surrounding environment. Sustainable considerations are woven into every decision, aligning with broader initiatives set to improve the structure and usher in a progression of academic excellence and innovation.
