Nurture is leading the comprehensive renovation of the Woodstock Recreation Center, including an analysis of existing conditions, the formulation of a strategic master plan, the development of an innovative concept design and all supporting construction documentation and administration.
Established in the 1980s and acquired by the City of Woodstock in the early 2000s, the center has been a cornerstone of local fitness and recreation, encompassing a gymnasium, yoga studios, racquetball and squash courts, aerobic and weight training areas, administrative offices, a nursery, locker rooms, a natatorium, a sauna, and a utility, pool. and equipment room.
The renovation will focus on critical upgrades, starting with mold remediation and sealing the pool area to mitigate condensation issues. Key improvements include the replacement of the gymnasium roof, exterior doors, electrical panels, and siding.
The pool, hot tub, and sauna will be updated, with the addition of an ADA lift to improve accessibility. Locker rooms will be modernized, new office spaces and a breakroom addition, and the deteriorating retractable partition wall system will be replaced. An ADA restroom will be added, and security will be bolstered with an advanced camera system and key fob access.
Enhancements will also include improved exterior drainage, a revamped parking lot, and a redesigned entranceway and front desk to increase functionality and create a more inviting atmosphere.
While the PARC grant covers essential renovations, our approach is holistic, aiming to address both immediate needs and the long-term potential of the center.
